Common uses

  • Sending only the pages that matter. Someone needs pages 4 to 6 of a long contract, not the whole thing. Type 4-6 under Extract pages and send just those pages.
  • Separating documents scanned together. A scanner put several documents into one PDF. Choose One PDF per range and type, for example, 1-2, 3-5, 6- to get each document as its own file.
  • Every page as its own file. Payslips, certificates or statements scanned in one go can be split with Every page, which saves each page as a separate PDF in a zip.
  • A PDF too big for an upload form. If a portal rejects a large PDF but accepts several files, split it into parts and upload each part separately.

Questions

How do I write page ranges?

Separate parts with commas: 1-3, 5, 8-. A dash between two numbers is a range, “8-” runs to the last page, and “-3” starts at page 1.

Can I get each range as a separate PDF?

Yes. Choose “One PDF per range” under Save as, and you'll get one file for each comma-separated part.

How does “Every page” work?

Each page becomes its own PDF, and all of them are packed into a single zip file, named so they sort in page order.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, so text, images and fonts are unchanged.
