Common uses

  • Typed with caps lock on. Paste the shouting paragraph and choose Sentence case to fix it without retyping. Check names afterwards, since they come out lowercase.
  • Headings in one consistent style. Turn a list of headings, chapter names or product titles into Title Case so they all follow the same rule.
  • Renaming columns or variables. Convert a list of spreadsheet column names into snake_case for a database or camelCase for JavaScript, one name per line.
  • URL slugs and file names. Turn a page title into kebab-case for a URL slug or file name. Spaces and punctuation become single hyphens.

Questions

How does Title Case handle small words?

Short words such as “a”, “of”, “the” and “and” stay lowercase unless they start or end the title, following the common style-guide rule: “A Tale of Two Cities”.

Can I convert variable names between camelCase and snake_case?

Yes. The converter finds word boundaries in any style, including acronyms, so “userAccountID” becomes “user_account_id”, “user-account-id” or “UserAccountId”. Each line is converted separately, so a list of names stays a list.

Does it work with accented letters?

Yes. Letters from any language convert correctly, including special cases such as German ß, which becomes SS in uppercase.
